Repeat After Me

Portland’s Hand2Mouth Theater is starting a brand new and incredible piece this Thursday called Repeat After Me, described as “One part karaoke sing-a-long gone wrong, one part dance theatre, one part nightmare.”

The performance (DJ’d by resident archivist David Chandler) is based entirely on American pop music. The songs, across genres, are taken apart and shambled back together in montage in unexpected new combinations. This is an incredible opportunity! Cast member Julie Hammond is one of my personal heroes, who continues to inspire me with her creative and hilarious physical presence, her humor, and intellect.

Show runs Thursday - Sunday, April 12 - 29, 8pm
Opening Party! Saturday, April 14 - tickets $25

Tickets: $15, $10 (members, students, seniors, working artists)

Goldsmith Performance Lab, 20 NW 5th Avenue
Reservations: 503-235-5284 or mail@hand2mouththeatre.org

  1. This show is going to be so kick ass! A non-stop music video in blazing colors. I ran into Elias Foley today while he was preparing samples at New Seasons. He helped Hand2Mouth with some technical stuff, and we talked about how well they are able to portray chaos while staying totally on tick — at least by the opening night. See you there!

  2. Thanks for coming, and for volunteering, both of you! It is good to talk and hear your thoughts and what things stick out from the show.
I’m so glad that you’ve actually got to see it multiple times to see all the layers of stuff going on during the choreographed chaos.
